Ahead are the long winter months, and some families rush to rest in warm countries - take a break from dank dampness and grab an extra piece of summer. But what if the vacation, and with it the trip to the sunny beaches, coincided with an interesting situation?

Is it possible to fully enjoy the sun during pregnancy, or will you have to wait a bit with a tan? The attitude to ultraviolet light in society is twofold - fans of chocolate tanning remind of the undoubted benefits of vitamin D obtained in a natural way, and opponents frighten premature aging and even skin cancer, the first enemy of which is the sun. Ultraviolet is so useful and so dangerous at the same time. Should a pregnant woman avoid it?

Refuse from sunbathing and sea bathing, of course, is not worth it. Indeed, the resulting vitamin D is vital for pregnant women. In addition, the sun's rays strengthen the immune system, weakened by the position of the future mother, and raise the mood shaken by hormonal swings. It is important to remember your situation, adhering to simple rules:

  • Leave the best hours for tanning when the sunlight is soft and harmless. Time until 10 a.m. is most favorable for tanning, when the sun warms, but does not burn. In addition, you do not have to leave the beach in the sun itself. Good for tanning and the end of the day - soft sunset rays are no longer able to cause burns, and the evening brings with it a pleasant cool.
  • Do not visit the beach on an empty stomach. Low blood sugar, coupled with an additional load on the vessels and high air temperature, can trigger vascular spasm and fainting.
  • Beware of dehydration. The liquid leaves the body with sweat, and the hot sun contributes to increased sweating. Do not go to the beach without a bottle of water.
  • During pregnancy, try not to lie directly on the sand or rocks. Heated in the sun, they create additional heat. An ideal place for the expectant mother is a comfortable deck chair, set in the shade. The time for staying in direct sunlight should be limited to 10-15 minutes in one session.
  • Protect your skin. During pregnancy, pigmentation is enhanced. As a result, instead of an even tan, the face and body can be decorated with large freckles and age spots.
  • Do not forget about the danger of heat stroke. Overheating occurs very imperceptibly, a person may not experience any unpleasant sensations, however, the effects of prolonged exposure to high temperature are very dangerous. The light sea breeze does not save from heat stroke - on the contrary, it makes you relax and forget about the danger. If the day promises to be very hot, you should skip visiting the beach. Manifestations of overheating are expressed in weakness, dizziness, drop in blood pressure, lack of appetite and indigestion. For a pregnant woman, dehydration of the body during heat stroke is of particular danger.
  • Try not to go to the beach unaccompanied. Attacks of dizziness, changes in blood pressure and heart palpitations are not rare during pregnancy, and a sharp temperature drop when moving from a hot beach to a cooler place or prolonged exposure to the sun can faint.
  • Returning from summer to winter, take care of yourself in the first week after a vacation. Try to spend several days at home, with your family, avoiding large crowds of sneezing and coughing people.
