Osaka resident 114-year-old Misao Okawa is officially named the oldest woman on the planet. Already in March, a Japanese woman will celebrate her 115th birthday. In January 2013, the organization Gerontology Research Group handed her a certificate confirming the honorary status, after the previous record holder died - also a Japanese Koto Okubo (115 years). A little later, Okawa-san was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest woman on Earth.

Misao Okawa was born in the city of Osaka in early March 1898. According to the Gerontology Research Group, the exact age of a woman is 114 years 359 days. Misao gave birth to three children, two of whom are still alive and have already crossed the 90-year milestone. A resident of the land of the rising sun - a happy grandmother and great-grandmother. She has six great-grandchildren and four grandsons. It is known that Misao had a good health all his life and had never been seriously ill.

Mrs. Okava told reporters that she was “happy” to wear the title of the oldest woman on the planet and shared her own secret of longevity, which turned out to be surprisingly simple: everyone who wants to live to such old age should simply “look after their health”.

Recall that the oldest man on earth is a resident of Japan, Jirouemon Kimura, who has already turned 115 years old. And the oldest resident of the Earth of all time was recognized Jeanne Louise Kalman (France), who died after reaching 122 years of age in 1997. Today, the most long-livers are officially registered in Japan (51 thousand) and in America (53 thousand).
