It has long been said more than once that it is better to give than to receive. But now scientists have confirmed that the nobility is not just a good quality. It is beneficial, and not only to those people, to whom it is directed, but also to those who show it. Moreover, this benefit is considered not so much from the point of view of human values, but rather from the point of view of health.

The Daily Mail writes that a five-year study of 846 volunteers who took part in it proved that people who are noble toward others live longer.

Michael Poulin, University of Buffalo, USA, found that people who helped others died less often, despite the fact that they were prone to stressful situations. Stressful situations meant severe illness, death of a family member, dismissal, robbery or financial difficulties. Study participants reported how often during the previous 12 months they helped neighbors, friends, or relatives.

As a result of five-year observations, Poulin concluded that nobility helped people cope with stress, reducing morbidity rates, as well as the risk of death from experiences.

However, the researcher did not establish whether the nobility protects from stress those to whom it is directed, and to that extent.
