Attention, a new very detailed and interesting article appeared on the portal on how to properly cook charlotte with apples in a slow cooker.

Charlotte is called apple pie, which for many years has been one of the most popular dishes due to its amazing taste, usefulness (which not many confectionery products can boast of), as well as a simple recipe that does not require special skills and high costs.

There are several stories of her unpretentious and familiar to everyone since childhood names. The most common version is that the cake got its name from Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, wife of George III, king of England, who was very fond of apples. The second version connects the etymology of the name Charlotte with the old English word charlyt, which denoted a dish made from beaten eggs, sugar and milk.

Classic charlotte is a French sweet dish, which was prepared with fruits, white bread, custard and liquor. To make such a Charlotte, you had to have a lot of time, patience and master certain skills. Therefore, cooking lovers in different countries of the world have come up with their own recipes over time, which even today can be successfully implemented in any kitchen.

Some of the metamorphoses that Charlotte has undergone since its inception have occurred as a result of various historical events. So, the replacement in the original French recipe of apples with cold custard, and pieces of bread with biscuits, was made in 1814 for the sake of the Russian Tsar Alexander I after the defeat of Napoleon and the entry of Russian troops into Paris. Since that time, charlotte quickly became popular, and has won many cuisines in Europe and North America. In the USA, charlotte was even recognized as a national American dish.

The domestic recipe, which came to us from our mothers and grandmothers, is one of the most democratic and affordable.

Apple Charlotte

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs

It is important to remember that the taste of the cake will be the better, the more carefully the components of the biscuit are whipped.
  • Wash the apples and, after clearing the seeds, cut into small pieces. To clean them from the peel or not - the hostess decides, this is not strictly regulated.
  • Then, greasing the baking dish with oil and sprinkling it with breadcrumbs, put the apples in the mold and evenly pouring the dough, place it in the oven preheated to 180 ° C for about half an hour.
  • After half an hour, open the oven and check the readiness of the charlotte by sticking a match in it: if there is no dough to pester it, the cake is ready.
