Transfiguration of the Lord (Apple Savior)
The Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord is one of the twelve largest Orthodox holidays. In the people this day is called the Second Savior, the traditional harvest festival. In the churches the fruits of the earth are illuminated - apples, plums, pears. Apples are most honored and popular, hence the third name of the holiday - Apple Savior or Honey Savior. Particularly carefully prepared for this day beekeepers - they need to consecrate the hives, as well as treat honey to all neighbors, especially the weak, disadvantaged and orphans. Apple Savior in Russia has become one of the main days of the year. On this day, large holidays were organized, not only Spas was celebrated, but also the meeting of autumn.
