Richard Gere received the Golden Star Award for outstanding performance at the Hamptons Film Festival.

At the 20th annual Hamptons International Film Festival in New York, actor Richard Gere was honored with outstanding performance awards. This celebration took place last weekend.

The celebrity took part in the event on Saturday evening, where his Golden Star was transferred to him. Richard Gere received the award from the hands of the honorary chairman of the festival, Alec Baldwin, who, by the way, received the same award last year.

As part of the Hampton Film Festival, Baldwin interviewed Gere to question about his personal life and career. So, 63-year-old Gere, on whom memories flashed, admitted that in 1982, when the shooting of "Officer and Gentleman" was finished, he was deeply unhappy. His hero at the end of the film carries his beloved, who worked at the factory, to the applause of her colleagues.

He told Baldwin: “I felt it was too sentimental. I never believed in such a finale. This is too romantic, it never worked ... I remember shooting the scene at the factory, I continued to say to the director, "let's, let's do something else, we still have time." And he said: “You will look later with music overlaid, and your hair will move.” The film received six nominations for the Oscar and two Oscar figurines, including for "Best Song." In addition, there were awards from the British Film Academy, two Golden Globes.

Richard Gere has become a symbol of the past era thanks to many films - among them "Pretty Woman", "Hachiko: The Most Faithful Friend", "Chicago". Recently, an actor does not so often pamper his fans with new roles. Since 2002, he has been married to actress and model Carey Lowell, and after the birth of their son, Homer, Gere decided to pay more attention to the family.

Now a new promising picture with his participation “Arbitration” is being released.
